At an AA meeting, Dante (Robert P. Young), a former heroin addict,
tells the group about the decisive moment in his life that led to him
kicking the habit. It was a late night in a dark alley, when Dante, far
enough out to not be able to get to his own feet, witnessed a young woman
(Hailey Hayes) being brutally attacked by two crackheads with the obvious
intention of raping her. Now Dante, shocked as he was could do nothing to
help her due to his condition - but somebody else (Zack Santiago) could,
and this somebody else attacks the muggers quite viciously, beating them
to a pulp with such a vengeance that one could be made to assume that he's
releasing all the pain of the world on them. Sure, he does it for the
right reason, but there's nothing heroic about that man's deed, and it
soon becomes clear the punishment far surpasses the crime. And that man is
... the Batman! After having seen quite a few (official)
cinematic incarnations in the past 3 decades that differed greatly in
approach, the fanfilm Batman: Dante brings the Batman
more to his roots again, as someone whose gimmick it is to strike fear
into people - though he rarely does it with the same brutality as in this
little movie that doesn't allow its hero to strike any heroic poses but
instead keeps it down and dirty ... and it works, as the movie's fierce
and creepy, but also well-paced and -executed to really keep the audience
on edge throughout! And if this has gotten you at all
interested, you can watch the whole movie here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVIemMDWn4s
