Psychiatrist Dr. Prince's (Michael Cerveris) newest patient Dan (David
Conrad) proves to be quite a handful, a man who claims to be a school
principal but who also confesses a couple of murders that shook the town a
while back - and due to his professional ethos, Prince can't report the
man to the police, so he does his best to treat him, on the assumption
that the murders have happened in the past and Dan has changed for the
better. But the more into detail their weekly sessions go, the more our
good doctor starts to believe Dan still has a homicidal streak in him, so
much so that he starts to follow him to find oout more about him. Soon
enough though, Dan gets wind of this and turns the tables on Prince, which
includes paying the doctor's wife (Siena Goines) a visit and dating his
receptionist (Grace Rao), Things though soon escalate, so much so that
Prince breaks into Dan's house when he's out and putting out a contract on
him. Things though really get out of hands when the good doctor learns
about the murder of a colleague (Tome Cousin) that gets linked to Dan's
case, and soon it becomes obvioius the two men are linked in a game of
kill or be killed ...
Now for the most part, this movie's basically your typical
thriller game of cat and mouse with ever changing roles, with an at first
contained situation slowly spinning out of control. The film is very well
written, executed and played though that one's glued to the screen despite
the familiarity of the story. The film however really comes into its own
in the finale that defies all expectations and catches the audience
off-guard - despite being totally plausible in hindsight. So in all, a
pretty cool genre ride that's well worth a watch.
