True, to those interested in the arts, most of the facts presented in this
documentary will be well-knpwm. from his humble upbringing in Pittsburgh
by his Slovakian immigrant parents, to his humble beginnings as first a
neighbourhood artist, to hiw work as illustrator for ads in NYC from the
late 1940s onwards, to his breakthrough as an artist, to his creation of
the Factory, to his ventures into film and music, to his
Interview magazine, to an assassination attempt on him to his
untimely death - all of which the building blocks of a fascinating story
that has already been often told. What makes hit film special though is
that the story is told through the eyes of friends and family, people who
saw Warhol as a human being first and only second as the superstar artist
as whom the world knows him. That said, much about Andy Warhol still
remains shrouded in mystery even after seeing this film, but at the same
time one can't deny being sucked in by the movie's story and come out with
a shifted perception of the man on the other end.
