Your new movie Evil
Under the Skin - in a few words, what is it about, and what can
you tell us about your character in it?
It’s
a psychological thriller written by Luc Bernier [Luc
Bernier interview - click here]. A woman and her daughter
decide to take a nice quiet vacation in a cabin by a lake when all goes
wrong. My character is Ranger Jenny Ross, I have good intentions but I see
Evil. What did you
draw upon to bring your character to life, and how much Pamela Sutch can we
actually find in ranger Jenny?
Jenny’s
an optimist but can see through the red tape to Evil. I would describe myself
and the history of my life similar to this. Always searching for the
silver lining or light at the end of the tunnel, as I sit here now in the
heart and epicenter of the Corona virus. I believe we will prevail
stronger than ever and something good has to come from this :)
Jenny and Sheriff Roy are also the comic relief a bit in this thriller. In
real life, I will always find something funny in the midst of disasters,
dysfunctional lives or something twisted. How did you get involved with
the project in the first place?
Hey,
I know people. Lol. Most of my projects these days come to me through word of
mouth and people contacting me. To what extent could you
identify with Evil
Under the Skin's slowburn approach to horror, actually?
The suspense is what we watch this stuff for! And the slow psychological
mystery of what is going on and what will happen next is what works great
in this production. I’ve read many of Luc Bernier’s scripts and that
is his style of writing. It leaves a lot of improvisation to the actors to
feel the moment and milk each scene.
Do
talk about Evil Under
the Skin's director Jeffrey Schneider [Jeffrey
Schneider interview - click here], and what was your collaboration
like?
Jeff
was great to work with. He’s a true professional and you could see his
passion for the project when working with him. All these indie films are a
ton of work and you have to love what you do. You can only hope that the
payoff will match to what you have to put into completing these films.
Jeff made this a great little horror indie with lots of heart and soul. What can you tell us about the shoot as such, and
the on-set atmosphere? It
was shot at such a beautiful location in Oregon with a wonderful set, cast
and crew. Very comfy on-set atmosphere. Kitchen was very well stocked and
a great cook on hand. Just like a real AirBnB :)
Meeting the rest of the cast after knowing about them through the years was a
great experience for me.
Any future projects you'd like to share?
You
can view my hosting spot on WGUD Television After Hours Cinema, where I
have a regular TV spot called Lessons Learned. I critique great
horror classics from the 70s and more as well as many features and
shorts that I appear in Including Evil
Under the Skin. I also hope
to start a new production under my business Sirentales.com
very soon.
