Your new movie Blood Soaked - in a few words, what is it about, and what can you tell us about your character in it?

Lesbians, Nazis, and zombies. I play Sadie the loveable yet merciless zombie-hoarding bad girl.

Your character - what did you draw upon to bring her to life ... and seriously, how much fun was it to play an absolute psychopath like her?

Before we would shoot, I would rock out to Alice in Chains. It’s not like I find them sadistic, just awesome, and they helped me get into my head. I flipping loved playing Sadie, it was kind of therapeutic to just let my rage flag fly free.

Honestly, when you heard what Blood Soaked was about, what were your immediate reactions?

Well, my first reaction was… Ok if you say so, let’s do it, and how much blood am I and the kitchen going to be covered in?

Your name might be already be a dead giveaway, but you are also privately linked to your director Peter Grendle [Peter Grendle interview - click here] - so what can you tell us about him, what was your collaboration like ... and of course, how did you two hook up in the first place?

For starters Peter is my most favorite human on earth. He is so talented, smart, kind, loving, motivated, and all the other mushy things a wife can say about one’s husband. Our collaboration is “almost” effortless… I just play the part of the one grounded in everyday life, and hopefully keep him in check just a little. As for our “hook up” - we were just your average teenagers who ran away to art school in New Mexico, met, fell in love, got married, decided to make movies together in the desert, and live happily ever after.

Do talk about the shoot as such for a bit, and the on-set atmosphere?

 ;

Shoot days all started the same, eggs, bacon, hash browns, coffee, and bloodying up Heather Wilder [Heather Wilder interview - click here]. The set was always a good time, hot, covered in Karo Syrup, avoiding ants, and peeing on the side of the road. The day always ended with much needed shower, beer, dailies, and whatever the hell we managed to scrape together for dinner. Good times.

Any future projects you'd like to share?

Whatever my wonderful husband throws at me I guess. I am sure it won’t be long before he has me running around the desert or such covered in fake blood. Until then just hanging out at home with our kiddos.

What got you into acting in the first place, and did you receive any formal education on the subject?

I have been acting since I was a kid, studied it all throughout school. Tried the agent thing for a hot minute, then decided to go to college for theatre. I changed my mind on getting an acting degree last minute, and instead got my BFA in Technical Theatre with a specialization in lighting design. So now I get abused as an actress and electrician.

What can you tell us about your acting experiences prior to Blood Soaked?

I did a lot of stage acting, and some film. My favorite has and will always be my time in the land of comedic improv.

How would you describe yourself as an actress, and some of your techniques to bring your characters to life?

I like to approach things raw, and as fresh as possible. That is after all how we approach everyday life. I don’t wake up and rehearse my day, I just live it.

Actresses (and indeed actors) who inspire you?

Umm?? Shit, I don’t know… I just like it when I lose an actor to a part, and forget who they are in real life. I do adore Judy Garland…

Your favourite movies?

I am a sucker for all things zombies, horror, musicals, and Disney.

... and of course, films you really deplore?

Your website, Facebook, whatever else?

None of the above, you just have to adore me from afar.

Anything else you're dying to mention and I have merely forgotten to ask?

I wish I knew how to dance, and I don’t care for dogs. ;-)

Thanks for the interview!
