Your upcoming movie Zombie Chunks - in a few words, what is it about?

Zombie Chunks the movie is based on some stories from the novel Dead Silent Publishing released last year. The book has a mix of authors and some completely different zombie stories from the norm. Currently this is available on Amazon both in Kindle and paperback versions.

Zombie Chunks is based on the anthology of the same name - so what can you tell us about that one, and what drew you to the book in the first place?

Silent Studios Productions decided they would start to do short films from the novel stories to create a zombie anthology feature film called Zombie Chunks. The book concept was designed by Silent Studios and many authors were asked about adding short stories into this novel. This book had so many applications that we are in process of doing a Zombie Chunks Volume 2 so look out for that. I am creative director, so always looking and new unique ways we can do things for indie horror.

In your filmmaking career, you seem to return to the zombie genre a bit too often to be mere coincidence - so what fascinates you about the genre, some of your genre favourites, and what do you think will make Zombie Chunks stick out of the genre crowd?

I love the horror genre and have done a few zombie films in my time but also we have films like Torture, which is due out in 2019, so a Hostel vs Saw type movie. We do have a mix of films in our portfolio so would say horror is the passion more than just zombies.

Zombie Chunks is different as the stories from the book are not the norm zombie stories. What do I mean? Well you will have to read the book on Amazon to find out.

With Zombie Chunks being an anthology film, what do you think are the advantages but also challenges of making a movie like that?

Zombie Chunks comes with a lot of challenges. The advantages are we can take our time to do each story to make sure we get things just right. Also we will do choosing different locations to do each story so we have a chance to film stories all over, not just in the UK.

What can you tell us about your movie's approach to horror, and what will you have to offer on the gore side of things?

We are looking keep to the storyline as much as possible, but we will be adding blood, gore, and jump scares to make the stories stand out on the screen. We have some awesome sfx makeup artists attached to this project so expect some awesome effects.

Anything you can tell us about your key cast and crew, however tentative, yet?

As we are fundraising for this film, the cast and crew has not been set in stone yet. Once the budget has been raised we will then choose which of the stories are to be filmed and then look at the cast best suited for each story.

As far as I know, you've already filmed one segment of Zombie Chunks, Just an Empty Box - so what can you tell us about that one, what is it about, and a few words about the shoot as such?

Yes we did one of the stories Just an Empty Box to get things started and also to have something to show on the IndieGoGo campaign, as it is important to show this project is going to happen and give confidence to those people that are supporting and backing this project.

Just an Empty Box

You are currently raising funds for Zombie Chunks - so do talk about your campaign for a bit!

Currently the project is on IndieGoGo and we have offered some nice perks with the project from a copy of the novel, days on set, featured extra role in a film up to being an executive producer. We feel these are things that horror fans would love to experience. We hope as many horror fans and indie filmmakers get behind our campaign and help make this happen.

We would love people from all over the world backing this campaign as we do intend to film some of the stories abroad not just all in the UK so there is opportunity for a wider audience to get involved.

Once the budget's in place, what's the schedule? And any idea when and where the film might be released onto the general public yet?

We intend to get this film completed in 2019 and out to the film festivals and some special horror conventions. Eventually it will end up on VOD, DVD and Blu-ray so everyone that gets involved will be able to see the whole thing at some point in time.

Any future projects beyond Zombie Chunks?

We have a lot of projects planned beyond Zombie Chunks, but they are under wraps I'm afraid. However that said we do have two features in post-production coming out in 2019 (Torture and Acid Pit Stop), plus we have nearly finished filming on our new project Zombie Wars. Plenty to come and if anyone wishes to get involved then please get in contact direct on jason@silent-studios.co.uk
