Your movie Beware - in a
few words, what is it about, and what can you tell us about your character in
it?
Beware is a movie about a killer in a small town who has commited terrible murders. And in one fateful trip, five youngsters
end up facing death. Maria my character is the only one who knows the real
story behind the killings.
Other than the genre-typical scream queen, your character also has
a darker side to it. It this something you can at all relate to?
I think
all humans beings have a darker side about them. But thank God the most of
us don't let that side out. That's what I love about acting. I can play with
my darkest side without being real.
How did you approach your character, acting-wise? And how much of
yourself do we find in your character Maria?
Cecilia Huete and Fernando Vieira
in Beware |
After reading the script, I spoke with the director about
Maria and he gave me the freedom to interpret her as I felt she would be.
I gave Maria my sense of family loyalty and protection.
How did you get involved in the movie in the first place?
Actually Fernando Vieira, who plays Marco in Beware,
told me about the casting. When I got the part I was thrilled!!
A few words about your director Jason Daly [Jason
Daly interview - click here], and what was your collaboration like?
Jason is kind, smart and talented. Thanks to him and Shawn, the producer, we
had an amazing experience shooting Beware.
What can you tell us about the on-set atmosphere while shooting
Beware?
The atmosphere was the best I had in a set so far. We had a blast! Jason,
Shawn, the crew were great, they always had a big smile, it was family time
for all of us. We were enjoying every day of the shooting.
With Beware essentially
being a slasher movie - is this a genre you can at all relate to?
Beware
was actually my first horror film. I'm the kind of person who is really
scared of horror movies. I remember while shooting the movie, I woke up one
night to get a glass of water and I saw all of Shane's props lying around:
hands, knives.... and it was so scary. With Beware,
I started to love
horror movies and I'm a big fan now.
Let's go back to the begginings of your career: What got you into
acting in the first place, and did you receive any formal training on the
subject? I always like acting, but I put it on hold while i
was studying Public Realtions in Argentina. But when I moved to the USA I started to take acting lessons. I did my first short film and
decided on this career 100%. Can you still remember the first time you acted
in front of a camera, and what was that experience like?
I
was in highschool and an Iranian movie started to shoot in my city. I applied as an extra, but the director gave me a few lines. Those were the
happiest days in my life.
What
can you tell us about your filmwork prior to Beware? My
first important movie role was in a Florida Short film called
Suddenly the Sunrise, a beautiful drama, where I acted alongside my
Beware
co-star Fernando Vieira for the first time.

How would you
describe your approach to acting in general?
I like
to investigate all aspects of the life of the character I'm portaying. For
me in order to create a character, you need a mix of investigation and creativity in
a way that makes sense for you in collaboration with the
director. Actresses
(or indeed actors) who inspire you? Too Many! I would say
Susan Sarandon, Natalie Portman, Gary Oldman, Ryan Gosling. Your favourite
movies? Dracula (Coppola), Life is Beautiful,
City of God, ... ... and of course, films you really deplore? I
prefer to not mentioned any... Its all about preferences. Your
