One day, Steve (North Roberts) is picked off the street by a thug
(Raymond Sofia) and delivered to a warehouse where mobster Frankie (Chad
Foor) welcomes him, not at all warmly. You see, Steve is a good husband
and father ... but he's got a bit of a gambling problem, and when he ran
out of cash and should have stopped there latest, he instead borrowed
money from the mob - and is now unable to pay back ... and Frankie,
can you blame him, doesn't like that very much, and he also knows if he
lets Steve off the hook just like that, Steve will never repay. So he
gives Steve a choice, either he will kill him - or his family ... Your
Second Chance is in its essence a nice little morality play wrapped
into the clothing of a suspense thriller of the gangster variety, told in
the way of a old school short story, with narrative buildup to a surprise
ending and plenty of interesting plottwists along the way. And a subtle
yet powerful directorial effort and a solid cast bring the story to life
properly. Quite worth a watch, actually.
