A homicide detective (David Lynch) has tracked down Jack (Jack Cruz), a
very nervous monkey, to a railway station under lockdown, and corners him
at the cafeteria to make him confess - but confess to what, and what do
chickens have to do with this? Ok, "David Lynch
interrogating a monkey" sounds like a one-line joke, and in a way,
this 17 minute short is exactly that - but all the same it's pretty
hilarious how Lynch and the monkey throw sample phrases from hardboiled
crime movies at one another, with a plot that grows weirder and weirder as
a result of that. And it wouldn't be David Lynch if he didn't drench the
whole thing in a very otherworldly atmosphere (with shades of film noir)
where even a musical number towards the end doesn't ruin the whole thing.
Now I'm sure this isn't a film for everybody, but if you're into crime
movies and the absurd, then you ought to give this one a try.
