And these videogames are ego shooters, first and foremost, so eventually the topic what it might feel to kill someone for real is just bound to come up. The guys, numbed by videogames, booze and drugs, are all for it - theoretically at least, so Karrie tells them her tale of woe, that she has been drugged during a drinking game (though she's only 15) by Bud (Kadu Lennox), the boyfriend of her alcoholic mum (Jennifer Kelly), who then raped her. That's really enough for Christian and Danny, at least in their present loaded state, to go with her suggestion to take him out - and quite frankly, at least their motives are noble if their methods are all wrong. But to plan to kill somebody and to actually do this are two totally different things, plus Karrie has planned this a bit too well for it to be just a rape-revenge killing ...<p> <p><b>Thrill Kill </b>is most certainly quite the shocker, basically because it refuses to give simple answers to complex issues (like mainstream media does), but it doesn't so by being over-provocative or preaching from the pulpit, instead it starts with a very straight-forward genre story that merely seems to echo the "thrill killings" the TV on-screen can't stop blabbering about (without saying anything, really), but gradually, layer after layer is peeled back to reveal quite a different perspective on the whole story, while also the three main characters are allowed their own character arcs in accordance with the on-screen revelations - and the ending's quite shocking and nihilistic indeed.
