"The Reaper" (Joel D. Wynkoop), who thinks he's much scarier
than he is (and hilariously so), takes us through a quintet of horror
stories:
- Trick or Treaters: A girl (Emily Christina) who's really not
into Halloween sends away a trio of trick-or-treaters (Seth Zelch,
Noah Zelch, Ella Grace Baker) - but they're not shaken off quite that
easily ...
- Elimination: A woman (Donna Hamblin) persuades her boyfriend
(Mark Gordon Buckley) to kill her husband - and all ends well, that
is, until things start to backfire ...
- The Experiment: Phil (Jack Thurber) agrees to do a social
experiment, which seemingly just involves to have sex with the person
in charge - until ...
- Strangled Friends: Two women (Tina Krause, Debbie D) are
fighting over a man - until one of them is killed. But supernatural
forces insist on even the score ...
- Tangled Web: Benny (Joel D. Wynkoop) finds out his wife
Judy (M. Catherine Wynkoop) has been cheating on him with his brother
- and strangles her in a fit of rage. Then he hides the body in the
woods ... but leaves the cellphone with her and now he calls Jimmy
(Phil Herman) to find the body and get rid of the phone - his brother
Jimmy who Judy had an affair with ...
A fun little piece of anthology horror that has a little bit for
everybody, from the macabre to the erotic, the suspenseful to the comedic,
and everything in between, with the film's varying wildly in style and
production value, but all held together by a rather hilarious wraparound
segment. And despite some unevenness between the segments, none is an
actual let-down and each manages to entertain on a different level. And
while some might dislike the film for being a bit on the hodgepodge side,
others will probably embrace it for just that, giving us a wide variety of
scary stories for the price of one.
