Ex-Marine Chris (Guillermo Iván) and his wife Sara (Lara Wolf) lead a
quiet and pretty normal life somewhere in the USA - until Chris receives a
visit from two FBI-agents (Zach Rose, Ariann Murad) who tell him his wife
has been killed by a car bomb and wasn't the businesswoman she has always
pretended to be but a human trafficker. This is all much for Chris to
stomach, so when he receives a call that his wife has actually been
kidnapped, he prefers to believe that piece of news and goes over the
border to Mexico to free her, shooting everybody dead in his way. Thing
is, Chris doesn't find her in the mansion she's supposed to be held but a
mystery man (Roberto Sanchez) who tells him she's held on a secret
location, but if he kills six people - all scumbags of the human
trafficking world, so nobody many people would shed a tear over - in six
hours, his wife will be released. Chris has of course little choice, and
uses all of his training as a Marine to get the job done. Of course, while
Chris is still hard at work piling up dead bodies, the mystery man isn't
exactly playing fair and with the help of the two above FBI agents - who
are in fact anything but - has Chris's daughter kidnapped for further
incentive - incentive Chris will need for the final kill that comes as a
big shock to him ... 6 Hours Away is actually a rather
wonderful throwback to 1980s macho action movies, with its wonderful mix
of an unstoppable hero, wonderful vintage cars, chases, shoot-out and
fistfights aplenty. That said, this is more than just a carbon copy of
yesteryear's filmmaking, it's actually more plot-driven than your average
actioner from back when, is cleverly written with quite a few unexpected
twists, and also rather beautifully shot and edited, and has its action
erupt at a rather furious pace to make this one really cool genre ride.
