Mad scientist Bruno Halder (Carlos Ancira) has developed a serum to
revive the dead - and then he dies ... but is of course revived by his
loyal hunchbacked midget Waldo (Santanón) and his zombies. Now all he can
think about is having his revenge (for what?) on his brother Otto (Jorge
Rado), his niece Gloria (Hedi Blue), and his niece's boyfriend Santo. So
he revives a series of classic monsters, including Frankenstein's
monster (Manuel Leal), a mummy (Fernando Rosales), a vampire (David
Alvizu), a wolfman (Vicente Lara) and the Cyclops (Gerardo Zepeda),
kidnaps Santo's best wrestler friend Blue Demon and makes an evil clone
from him ... and then it's all-out attack. But somehow the monsters'
attacks are always thwarted, be it for the odd crucifix just hanging
around (at least that works on the vampire), Santo's clobbering powers, or
sunrise (during the day, the monsters sleep you know). Halder grows more
and more desperate in his attempts to kill his enemies, he even has his
vampire fight Santo in the ring (unsuccessfully of course), but nothing
works. Eventually though, he manages to kidnap Otto and Gloria, but Santo
has managed to attach a mini radio to Frankenstein's monster which allows
him to finally trace down Halder's hideout, where he manages to destroy
the evil Blue Demon clone, free the real Blue Demon, and together they
defeat Halder's gang of monsters, destroy his monster-making lab, free
Otto and Gloria, and finally see to it that Halder's place goes up in
flames ... As far as monster movies go, this one is of course
as silly as they get: The plot makes very little sense, seems to be little
more than an excuse for wrestler-vs-monster-fights, of course there is
little in character motivation let alone development, and you can't shake
the feeling you have seen all of this before. And as for the monsters,
most of them look ridiculous, like the Frankenstein monster with a goatee,
or the cyclops that seems to be made out of wool. And what about this
dwarf (or whatever it is) with its exposed brain? All of this sounds of
course like a recipe for disaster, which this movie probably is - but it's
also a gem for a trashfilm enthusiast just like myself, something not to
be missed for the pure joy of it!!!
