Rebecca (Emily O'Brien) and Todd (Adrian Gaeta) have just into their
new home - and it's actually a dream house, well, apart from maybe the
neighbours Harold (Zack Ward) and Francine (Sarah Ann Schultz), who might
be a bit too friendly, and over a bit too often ... but hey, they're
pretty harmless and totally forthcoming. Thing is, Rebecca seems a little
nervous of late and seems to see things ... but then she finds out she's
pregnant, so it might all just be down to that. Then though, when
renovating, Rebecca and Todd find a teddy bear between the walls, and
inside the teddy bear a diary of a little girl, which Rebecca starts to
read out of curiosity - and first it's really sweet, the story of little
Katherine (Anna Harr) playing with her friends Delia (Isabella Prince) and
Robert (Maddux Berry), and only eventually the story takes a darker tune,
with Katherine telling about kids gone missing in her neighbourhood, how
it was eventually found out that Delia and Robert's dad was behind it all
... but once he's arrested, the disappearances don't stop, and eventually
Katherine suspecte Delia and Robert behind it all ... when the diary
apruptly ends. Thing is, events from the diary are somehow mirrored in
real life, with Todd being burnt on his arm by a spirit that might have
been Katherine - so eventually he and Rebecca figure they have to find out
what has actually happened to the little girl ... which they succeed to
only after lengthy investigations. But once they have found her decayed
body and inform the proper authorities, things only get worse, much worse
... A very chilling little ghost story that suitably and
welcomely takes its time to build up its plot only to make the pay-off all
the more creepy, that sets its effects wisely but overall relies more on
atmosphere and spectacle, and that's cleverly enough directed to suck its
audience in without giving away too much at a time. And add to that a
great ensemble cast and you've got yourself a pretty great spooky
thriller. Totally worth a look!!!
