London Logo (Julia Faye West) is basically famous for being famous -
you know the kind, she was born into money, has been on a crappy reality
show with fellow heiress Rochelle (Shelli Boone), later made sure a sex
tape of her was "leaked" also starring Mike Tyson (himself) -
even if he denies any participation - to keep her relevant, and since has
made sure to never wear panties when exiting a limousine in a short dress
to keep the paparazzi happy. And since then she's a regular on pretty much
every celebrity news and chat shows that specialize in vapid celebrities.
And apparently she's interesting enough for British TV journalist Diana
Smelt-Marlin (Kate Orsini) to make a tell-all documentary about her - and
Diana is pretty much shocked what she sees: London treats those close to
her like dirt, including her personal manager Winston (Loren Lester) and
her mentor, burnt out actress Angelina (Denise Richards), she isn't the
brightest and refuses to learn, and the glitzy lifestyle is all that
counts for her. And the only thing that's nagging her ... is Kristy Kim
(Candace Kita), a vapid celebrity just like her who had pretty much the
same career but is more successful because she has a bigger bum and is
pregnant. And when Kristy confronts her face-to-face, London loses it -
leading to bizarre behaviour and the obligatory brief stay in jail. But
even then, London already works on her comeback, and Diana realises to
late that she has been had ... Reality Queen! might not
tell you anything new about reality TV stardom and its
famous-for-being-famous protagonists like the Kardashians and Paris Hilton
before them, and it might just cater to the preconceptions about the
phenomenon you've already had - but it sure does so in a rather hilarious
way. And framing it along the lines of a biased "documentary"
like Martin Bashir's controversial Living with Michael Jackson is
really a stroke of genius, as it gives the otherwise rather random if
topical jokes a narrative context. Plus, Julia Faye West really has her
role down to the T, leading a very solid cast. Awesome fun for sure!
