<body> <div align="left"> <table border="0" cellspacing="0" width="800" cellpadding="0" height="100%"> <tr> <td width="100" rowspan="2" background="../stylepix/square.gif" valign="top">  </td> <td width="4" rowspan="2"></td> <td width="592" valign="top"> <table border="0" cellspacing="0" width="592"> <tr> <td width="100%">  </td> </tr> </table>    <p>Ronnie has found a box full of BetaMax tapes among his deceased dad's things, and to his horror, they are all snuff tapes or confession tales of real life killers or tapes of people accidently filming their own demises - so he witnesses the "beauty queens" of a small town being killed off one after the other, a woman getting rid of her boyfriends rather brutally, teens up for a party somehow ending up with a death cult, paranormal investigations going dead (sorry for the pun) wrong, and so on and so forth. Thing is, Ronnie soon becomes kind of addicted to these tapes, even if he finds them repellent at the same time, and he also tries to get two of his friends to watch them with him - but these tapes also slowly change Ronnie, and not for the better ...<p> <p>The concept of this movie - to create a found footage anthology - is rather captivating, and it works, too, thanks to a strong wraparound story, and at least some of the segments of this collection are really nicely executed and structured (including the occasional ironic punchline) while others are really raw - and for that reason all the creepier.
