It's really not Franklin's (Black Jack Johnson) day: First he is
attacked by his wife (Deena Barnes-Threats) so viciously that he has no
choice but to clobber her to death, then his son (Kaprisceo Smith) is shot
to death by his best friend Mike (Jay Davis) before his very eyes ... and
then he learns there's a zombie apocalypse going on (which would at least
explain the odd behaviour of his wife and child). Well, at least Mike has
come to save him ... but Mike hasn't really thought any of this through,
has brought some odd weapons (like a basketball and a boxing glove) to
defend themselves, and the persons he has chosen for them to get through
this with - including a clueless weapon fanatic (Will Cummings III), an
even more clueless drugdealer (Cal Evans), a retard (David Perry), and a
army Colonel (Harold Dennis) who has just lost his battalion - are not
exactly top of the crop. On top of that they learn that the zombie virus
has actually been released by a pharmaceutical company who's hell-bent on
hushing things up - even if that means to kill everybody involved in the
story -, and it's more than likely that it was Mike, who worked at the
same company, who was responsible for releasing the virus. And from there
on, it only gets worse ... Sure, there are not many scenes in Not
Another Zombie Movie ... About the Living Dead that you haven't seen
in countless zombie flicks before, and likewise the same story has been
told a few hundred times already ... but somehow, this film gets it right
anyhow, as the film is peopled by an incredibly likeable and relatable,
deeply flawed cast of characters who really bring the situations they get
into to life, and even if the film is essentially a genre spoof, and not
always very subtle about it, the characters seem somehow much more real
when (mis-)handling the situations they get into than in many a more
serious zombie flick. Plus, the team behind the film have really done
their homework, as despite being played first and foremost for laughs, it
doesn't hold back in gruesomeness and atmosphere. Great fun, first and
foremost but by no means only for genre fans! ... and if this
sounds at all appealing to you, why not get the movie right here: http://www.nazm2015.com/
