Lunch break is almost over, yet when the CFO (Bill Ferris) of a
nondescript company calls warehouse, nobody answers - so he and his
colleagues (Gabriel Fiorindo Bellotti, Jeff Karr, Marine Madesclaire) make
their way to warehouse to teach the workers there (Gilbert Feliciano,
Talin Chat, Reuben J. Lee, Bruce Nachsin, Graham Hooper) a good lesson by
giving them a sound beating. But the workers are in no mood to give up a
single second of their lunch break and thus fight back - violently ...
Now of course this movie will ring true with everyone who
enjoys one's lunch break much more than one's actual job - but above
everything else, Lunchtime is Over is just great fun: It's a very
tightly directed and well-choreographed fight sequence - that's
intentionally over-stuffed with genre clichés, with the main punchline
being that they're in a completely wrong context. And while that might
sound as if this was a one-joke movie, it's really the direction that
keeps things alive (and funny) throughout, finding a balance between
hard-hitting action and silly jokes, all well-paced to keep one at the
edge of one's seat and rolling around the couch laughing at the same time.
It's really one of these movies that's much more fun than it ought to be.
