A spaceship lands on earth that looks like a circus tent and is thus populated by
(killer-)clowns, and just like in those sci-fi movies from
the 1950's, only a couple of teens, Mike (Grant Cramer) and Debbie
(Suzanne Snyder), have seen it touch down, and they soon witness the clowns killing
people and wrapping them up in cotton candy to feed on them later - but when they report it to
the police, no one wants to believe them (duh!), only cop Dave (John Allen
Nelson) agrees to take a look mainly because he's Debbie's ex. When the
circus tent-spaceship is no longer there though, Dave decides to book Mike
... until he himself finds traces of the clowns killing people, and now
they realize they have to work together to stop the clowns - who before
long take Debbie hostage (why they don't just kill her like all the others
is beyond me though). After much to and fro, Mike and Dave and two moronic icecream sellers
(Michael Siegel, Peter Lacassi) find the spaceship fittingly hidden away in an amusement park, and
on
their own turf, they start
fighting the clowns - who can only be killed when shot in the nose. Thing
is, the clowns are not very willing to go down ...
Now I won't claim that Killer Klowns
from Outer Space is a masterpiece of any sort, maybe not even the
camp classic the title alone deserves to be - but it's a fun, totally
mindless piece of 80s horror with a plot that seems to have jumped
directly out of a comicbook, and the colourful visuals to support that, as
well as plenty of wacky ideas (like super creepy clowns) that don't make
much sense in the bigger picture but totally elevate the entertainment
value of this little flick.
Basically, grab a beer, turn your brain of, and prepare to have fun,
the 80s way ...
