A meteor struck, leaving a quartet of college students (Mia Klosterman,
Nicole Goeke, Ben Johnson, Adam Singer) stranded out in the desert after
their car and phones break down as a result of the accompanying EMP blast.
Somehow they make their way to a top secret science facility where they
bump into a small scale but armed to the teeth redneck guerilla group
(Andy Haman, Raquel Pennington, Ruselis Aumeen Perry, Shale Le Page, Juan
Gonzalez) - and at first, the two parties prove to have little in common
... until of course they realize they've somehow been locked into the
maze-like facility and need each other's skills to make it out. Now that's
probably not the best of situations to begin with, but they're also locked
into the place with a T-Rex, and everyone injured by that T-Rex turns into
a violent zombie. Worse yet, the man who runs the facility (Cooper
Elliott) is a scientist fallen from grave who has made it his goal to
conquer the world - with dinosaurs, zombies, and controlled meteor impacts
...
Ok, the premise of this movie might be very far-fetched ...
but then, it's zombies, dinosaurs, shoot-outs, chases, fights, even a tiny
bit of irony (just look out for the guerilla leader's appearance), and it
somehow feels if the lead characters of Predator and The
Breakfast Club went on a monster hunt with each other - so basically
it's irreverent fun. Sure, the film lacks any real depth (but so do most
current blockbusters), but it's fast-paced, filled with plenty of
suspense, and all the jump scares are well-placed - in other words, good
genre entertainment!
