It's almost midnight, and Justine (Holly Curran) calls Becky (Emily
Donahoe), who has already been sleeping, with the most ridiculous of
questions, how to type the emoji for a broken heart in a text message -
because she has just been stood up, is now all frustrated and pretty much
needs a drink. But as ridiculous as the question is, and as annoyed as
Becky might be for being woken up in the middle of the night, she takes
the call very seriously, as there's much more to this than meets the eye
... How Do You Type a Broken Heart? is first and
foremost an actors' movie, as even though the script is strong and the
direction is slick, it would totally fall apart without the right
performances, as most of the emotions are not carried by words and
pictures but the actresses themselves - and fortunately the cast is first
class, which results in a really tense and touching short.
