Marco (Quinn Allan) is 30 years old, yet he's still afraid of the dark
- and this might sound pathetic, but since he's been a child (and was then
played by Jonathan Carter Thomas) he's been hearing weird voices and
sounds in the dark and witnessed supernatural occurences - nothing big,
but big enough to scare a small boy shitless. His father (Carlos
Sepulveda) though, an old-school macho, fails to understand and thinks the
boy's just a pussy ... until Marco's sister (Aururn Taylor Thomas) dies
under mysterious circumstances, and out of grief, daddy takes his own
life. Back to now, Marco is about to have a baby with lovely Ashley
(Sarah Jannett Johanson), but he knows if he doesn't exorcise the spirits
that are haunting him, his son will inherit the curse and probably fall
vicitim to them. Thing is, he has no idea how to exorcise those spirits,
and the more he investigates the more he has to come to the conclusion he
might have bitten off more than he can chew and might not come out of it
alive ... Rich on atmosphere and creepy throughout, The
Hours Till Daylight is deliberately slow-moving for the most part,
which doesn't hurt the movie at all as it's beautifully structured and has
its timeliens slowly running together rather fascinatingly - all of which
is also helped by a subtle directorial effort and solid acting. In the end
though, the audience gets the full pay-off, as the finale doesn't pull
back anymore. Totally worth a watch!
