Five years ago, Jack (Pascal Cooper), a drug kingpin, faked his own
death. Since then, his sister Kim (Mary Elizabeth Pohl) has tried to
figure out who killed him ... and trying to figure out who was behind the
plot, she shot dead everyone in her way (without of course knowing that
Jack's still alive). However, new drug kingpin Slick (Leif Gantvoort) has
found evidence that Jack might still be alive, so he sends one of his men,
Tony (Ramon Camacho) after Jack. Now Tony is easily disposed of, but his
popping up at Jack's place alone alarms Jack enough so that he gets back
into the game and shoots his way to the top - but Slick is awaiting him
... he just definitely isn't awaiting Kim - but what will she do upon
finding out Jack is still alive? Or has Slick killed him already? Gone
Dark is, above all else, great fun to watch: There's a shoot-out
ending almost every scene, there are lots of sexy babes, rarely wearing
more than their underwear or lingerie (but there's only very little actual
nudity), the whole thing has a tongue-in-cheek vibe to it, and the film is
so well-paced there's rarely a dull moment. That's not to say Gone Dark
is a perfect film though, the actual story is a bit hard to follow through
all the bloodshed and I'm not sure whether all the characters make perfect
sense, and most of the action scenes could have profited from a more
dynamic editing job ... but while watching the movie as such, preferably
in a beer-filled party atmosphere, all of this doesn't one bit distract
from the movie's fun factor. Sure, it might not be perfect, but its
over-the-topness makes it the perfect party movie!!!
