Scarlet (Allison Kove) has issues with everything, so her politician dad
Peter (Shawn Christian), out of ideas what to do, drops her at a
wilderness camp for troubled teens, run by caring Richard (Ravi Naidu).
However, for the longest time it seems neither Richard nor counselor
Russell (Cameron Jebo) can get through to her, and she doesn't make the
least effort to let anyone in. That is, until Dylan (Ava Capri) shows up,
an ex junkie with her own set of problems, but the first person who shows
actual compassion and friendliness towards Scarlet. The two soon become
the best of friends, and start sharing each other's secret.
Meanwhile, Peter fights a whole different kind of battle, as a big oil
company might have polluted his town's water supply. He is to launch a big
health survey, but the company, represented by their muscle Michael (Lou
Ferrigno jr) wants to do everything in their power to keep the whole thing
under sheets. Peter's of course not happy with that, so Michael starts to
look for ways to blackmail him.
Scarlet tells Dylan that she thinks her dad killed her mum (Sabina
Gadecki) back when she was four, and that she knows where the murder
weapon's hidden. The next day, Dylan's gone, Scarlet's dad is arrested for
murdering her mum, and Scarlet is expelled from the camp. But where to go
from here?
Brigitte Nielsen plays the woman who controls everything - though not
in the way you might think ...
The Experience is a rather touching drama that works quite so
well because it doesn't try to hammer is message home but rather disguises
as a genre movie to keep the audience entertained, and it's also a film
that keeps one guessing to the end, as it only drops subtle hints and
remains intentionally vague in many points rather than spelling everything
out. And a subtle direction and a solid cast of course help to make this a
pretty good movie, actually.
