Realtor Don (Richard Johnson) is desperately trying to what has become
known as "the blood house", called so for the many bloody
tragedies that (allegedly) happened there - including a crime of passion
just recently -, even if the name's actually derived from the fact that
the original family who lived there was actually called "Blud".
Thing is, Don's not just over-zealous, he has also struck a high stakes
bet with his colleague (Michael Edwards) that the will succeed - so he's
sending scores of handimen there to fix things to make the place greater
than perfect ... What Don doesn't know of course, only recently, a
drifter (Bob Olin) has chosen the house as his abode - hey, it's empty and
it's got running water so what's the worst that can happen if he's caught?
- and that drifter has homicidal tendencies, killing all the workers Don
sends and dragging their bodies to the basement, as well as some
prospective buyers. It takes Don a while to even notice all the handimen
are gone and no repairs have been done, but he's slow to put two and two
together - while their might be a greater danger lurking than just a
homicidal drifter ... Drifter is a fun little slasher
that, truth to be told, will probably fail to win any originality awards -
but what's really likeable about this movie is its light-footed approach,
its occasional humour, and its quirky characters that are definitely more
than the cannonfodder one has come to expect from most slashers - even if
they die all the same. And yes, there's enough to light up the eyes of a
die-hard genre fan as well, like bloody murders, well-set shocks, and a
pretty creepy villain - so in all, excellent slasher entertainment! And
if this has gotten you at all interested, you might want to get the movie
