Hugnary: It really isn't Zoli's (Gyözö Szabó) day - his being a slacker
doesn't only get him fired but also his best friend David (Csaba
Pindroch), then he finds his girl as good as screwing a male stripper
(Ferenc Hujber), when he and David try to steal some wine from their
former employers, they almost get shot, and then Zoli crashes his moped
even. But in the jacket of the stripper he has chased away he finds an
invitation for him and a colleague to go to London to perform a strip show
... so he and David decide to go, just so escape problems here at home. In
London, Zoli and David work at Terence's (Michael Madsen) club ... and
they really don't know what they're doing, neither is their act any good
(after all, they aren't strippers and don't look the part), nor do they
know Terence is a crime kingpin, and he and his former associate and now
rival Jack Varga (Vinnie Jones) have made them (or rather the guy's
they're replacing) part of their highly risky diamond smuggling operation,
and if it wasn't for their own total ignorance, and interventions by
Terence's girlfriend (Jamelia) and right hand man (Róbert Koltai), they
would have long been killed ... but just because you haven't died so far
doesn't mean you won't die eventuall ... Magic Boys,
while constructed like a gangster thriller, is basically just pure fun.
Actually, the film's narrative might be a bit too convoluted to fully make
sense, some plottwists might seem forced, some narrative threads might
stand in the main story's way, even not always make 100% sense ... but as
a whole, the film is just so much fun, is carried by great characters by
great actors, is well enough paced to butter over minor narrative
shortcomings, the finale is funny as hell, and as a whole, it's really
hard to not be taken it by the film's charming and slightly subversive
humour ... totally woth a look!!!
