Orphans Liberty (Mariah Tavares), Haven (Valeria Camero), Layla (Mia
Denae' Brathwaite), Daisy (Natalya O. Hudson), Carleigh (Olivia Kaiser),
Michael (Jaylan Lee Glover) and Kyle (Remy Payne) all live in Ms. Kay's
(Zenja Dunn) house on Crescent Road, and while she's not the best of
surrogate mothers, the children have formed a bond among themselves and
with Miss Kay's second-in-command Pierce (Quintin Adams), so when they
learn that Miss Kay is going to sell the house, abandon them, and they're
send to different foster homes all over the country, they're
understandably shattered. But then Liberty finds a time capsule left by a
former owner that contains a scavenger hunt leading them all over town,
and the kids figure if they can find the former owner and convince her to
re-buy the house, their home is saved ... In an at first only loosely
connected story, Reena (Kira Marie), so far an attorney with foster care,
finally is hired by a big law firm to handle a prestigious divorce case -
but she's soon shocked by the ruthless approach the company's taking to
things and wavers in her resolve to become the big ass lawyer she has
always dreamed of being. And then she receives a visit by a certain group
of orphans ... So ok, this is a film that gives away its whole
story in the first few minutes of running time and the ending is exactly
what one expects it to be - but things are kept alive throughout
nevertheless by lively performances by the group of kids, a relatable
grown-up cast, and some very fine Las Vegas backdrops, all reigned in by a
suitably subtle directorial effort, making this a nice piece of family
entertainment.
