Friends Jaq (Tasia Teles), Sebastian (Brent Bailey), Rosie (Alisa
Reyes) and Dash (Erik Fellows) are on a yachting trip when during a diving
expedition, they find $50 million in cash hidden underwater - and decide
to take the money and run. However, since this is apparently hot money,
and more likely than not actually belongs to some criminals, they can't
just walk away and spend the money, and the safest bet would probably be
to leave it untouched, so they need some kind of strategy - and
interestingly enough, this is just Jaq's field of expertise. And soon
enough the friends find themselves on the run, trying to reach their fence
before either the police or the cartel that owns the money can bust them,
breaking many a law on the side just to stay alive. And for Jaq, this is a
personal race, as the DEA agent on their trail, the highly corrupt Crowe
(Joanna Pacula), is her mother she has never seen eye to eye with, while
the cartel's boss Zalman (James Callis) is her father who has never given
her the love she needed. So she might drag her friends into something much
bigger that they may have signed on for, something that might threaten
their lives ...
Steve Guttenberg plays a car-obsessed weapons dealer.
This is a pretty cool crime thriller that really keeps things
moving from beginning to end but also affords its lead characters
character arcs, making them more than just catalysts for the action, while
the plot features many original twists and turns to keep one interested.
This all is helped by solid and relatable performances and a dynamic yet
not overpowering directorial effort, making this one a pretty entertaining
watch.
