It's the most haunted house of New York State, ever since the murder of
a sinful nun (Jessica Collazo-Thomson) ages ago - and now the owner (Mark
C. Fullhardt) wants it examined by the "best" paranormal
investigators on social media: There's Becky E (Angie Hansen) and her
team, flamboyant Rico (Cayrem Landt) and sceptic Hunk (Carl J Grasso),
who's only into this because he's madly in love with Becky, there's the
Ghost Boys (Joe Schonbrun, Matt Bruzzio), who are basically just
pranksters who have big mouths but little of a clue, and then there's
superserious Paranormal Tim (Tim Thomson), who simply mustn't be touched -
and at first, all these teams clash spectacularly, and even within the
teams there are clashes - so when the horror (the titular nun) finally
arrives, she has easy pickings ... Internet darling Shawn C. Phillips
stars in an opening segment separate from the film in which he tries to
prove his house is haunted. Ok, the budget of this film was
obviously rather on the low side, so not all the effects, and not all the
fight scenes work as well as they ought to (though none fail
spectacularly), but that doesn't derive from the fact that this movie
actually is tons of fun, a well-balanced blend of horror and comedy that
puts the shocks, the suspense and the laughs in all the right places, and
that's populated by a colourful cast of characters embodied by a bunch of
very able actors, making this an entertaining genre flick.
