Somewhere in Fantasy- or Ancient-Land: On her wedding day, Lana Clarkson's village is attacked by
some evil soldiers & all but a few women are raped, killed or
captured. The survivors, led by Clarkson, embark on a mission to free
their tribe & soon come to the city which the main villain rules.
Once there, they organize an uprising with the help of the local rebels
(every good city should have some) & some gladiators. Good of course
triumphs over evil ...
Speaking solely of boobs & violence, this movie delivers the
goods, & that would not necessarily be a bad thing. But in this
movie it is handled with so little imagination that it spells uninspired
with a capital UN. What makes the movie even worse is the incredibly
stilted dialogue. Half of the time you think the actors actually try to
come across with some (often feminist) message, but as this is a stupid
barbarian movie, the only message that seems to stick is "Don't
trust Men who rape women - they might be evil." Also, any piece of
feminism does go down the drain anyhow, when any time a new female
character is introduced, it isn't long before her cloths are ripped off
- not that this would necessarily be a bad thing either ... just in this
context ! |
