After having gotten rid of the Necronomicon by throwing it into another
dimension last episode,
reality soon catches up with Ash (Bruce Campbell) when Sheriff Thomas
Emery (Michelle Hurd) arrests him - somewhat over-eagerly perhaps, as Ash
had an affair with his wife Linda (Michelle Hurd) back in the day. Of
course, soon enough Ash's friends Pablo (Ray Santiago), Kelly (Dana
DeLorenzo) and Ruby Knowby (Lucy Lawless) show up at the police station to
demand Ash's release, so do Linda and her and Emery's daughter Lacey (Pepi
Sonuga), who has actually witnessed Ash fighting demons first-handedly -
and things go downhill from there when it's revealed that the demon Baal
(Joel Tobeck) is among them, and Baal can slip into the skin (literally)
of everybody, which pits everyone against everyone else pretty much, and
it's not long before all hell breaks loose ...
An episode that takes some hints from John Carpenter, especially his Assault
on Precinct 13 and The Thing,
but of course done the Evil
Dead way, which means an over-abundance of gore, grotesque
creatures, crazy humour, slapstick situations, and a hero clearly out of
his depth trying to stay on top of it all. Good fun for sure!
