Needing help in containing the evil they have set loose, Ash (Bruce
Campbell), Pablo (Ray Santiago) and Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo) travel to meet
a Brujo (Hemky Madera) Pablo thinks can help them. Now the Brujo is not
very impressed by Ash, whom Pablo has labeled El Jefe, but still agrees to
take him on a mescal-induced trip to find some answers - a trip that ends
with Ash trying to strangle Kelly thinking he's killing a demon, and he
has to be knocked out by Pablo - which is too bad because Kelly has
actually been possessed by a sneaky demon last
episode that's hell-bent on destroying the group from within ... In
the meantime, cop Amanda Fisher (Jill Marie Jones) crosses paths with Ruby
Knowby (Lucy Lawless), who saves her from a demon, and it turns out the
two women have very similar motives - to take down Ash -, even if Ruby
might go quite a bit further in her ambition - or why would she carry
Ash's severed (but still moving) hand with her ... Not the best
episode of the series but still fun, mainly due to Bruce Campbell's
fallible and wannabe-cool character and his flawless performance. The
episode as a whole is rather meagre in terms of both story and action and
seems to serve more of a set-up of things to come, but at least it's
entertaining.
