Martin (Bren Foster) leads a good life as boss of a successful robotics
company, and apart from the fact that his wife has disappeared a couple of
years ago, he really doesn't have anything to complain about - until one
day his daughter Teri (Sabina Rojková) is abducted by aliens before his
very eyes ... which really brings back memories what has happened to her
mother back when. Thing is, suddenly Martin finds himself on the radar of
some sinister gouvernment agency, and a squad led by agent Bowie (Randy
Couture) wants to question him, and really won't stop at nothing to get
their answers. Thing is, Martin doesn't have the answers, and thus decides
to give Bowie and company the slip. And eventually he hooks up with Johana
(Denise Richards), a sort of specialist when it comes to alien abductions,
and she in turn takes him to a group of people affected by alien
abductions led by Lance (Marek Vasut), who are in deep hiding in the
mittle of nowhere. Lance opens Martin's eyes to what's really behind the
whole affair, and that there's definite hope for both his wife and
daughter. But that said, it's not long before Bowie and company have
caught up with Martin, and whatever truzh Lance wants to share with him
and Johana, they're hell-bent to supress it - and they're armed to the
teeth, too ... A film that differs quite a bit from your usual
alien abduction fare, as it takes a more esoteric approach to things, and
really contradicts the usual conspiracy theories associated with the genre
- which is not to say the film doesn't work as a solid thriller as well,
because it does, it has all its intrigue, its tension, its action in all
the right places, the direction is atmosphere-heavy without suffocating
its story and subtext, and the cast is solid enough to keep things
grounded. And all of this actually makes for a pretty cool alien abduction
thriller - that almost certainly will catch you by surprise every now and
again.
