Back
in the day, young Nadia (Jade Beloued), Ali (Abdellah El Yousfi),
Stéphane (Gabriel Fracola) and Ali's brother Samir (Noé Lahlou)
played out in the fields when they met little Bashira (Celine
Hugo), who lured him to the "French House" - where Samir
disappeared ...
Over time, they all forgot about this, and now, 25 years later,
Nadia (now played by Sofiia Manousha) is in the process of
divorcing Ali (Younes Bouab), who has since become a cop, and
Stéphane (Iván González) has since become a famous painter who
has more or less lost contact to the others. However, they reunite
at one of Stéphane's art shows - where his paintings bring back
all sorts of bad memories to Nadia, so much so that she leaves the
show traumatized. Also, there are reports of missing children from
all over the city, and Ali, following one lead in this case,
stumbles upon and arrests a vagrant (Omar Lofti), who at first
only mumbles incoherently, but who soon turns out to be Ali's
brother Samir. Ali soon springs Samir from prison, as he figures
he knows more about the disappearances than anyone else, as it
turns out back in the day Samir has been captured by the
"guardian" (Moussa Maaskri), who used him as a vessel to
contain a child-eating demon. But somehow the demon has been
released so they have to do re-capture him before the demon gets
his hands on all kids in town, including Nadia and Ali's own son
Youssef (Mohamed
Wahib Abkari) ...
A very creepy piece of horror that manages to use its exotic
locale to the scariest of effect, that combines atmosphere-heavy
filmmaking with pretty cool and properly scary effects work, and that has
a fitting dark modern day fairy tale vibe to it. And a very slick
directorial effort and a strong cast really make this one come to life as
not just an exotic obscurity but a genuine piece of pretty awesome horror
entertainment.
