Of late, Michelle (Nadia Chloe Rose) has felt trapped in her own
marriage to Drake (Jim Bayes), and that's almost literally, as he doesn't
let her have friends of her own, he tries to limit her contact to her own
mother (Marilyn Everett-Jones), and he has taken control of her money,
having hidden her debit card. But Michelle sees a silver lining when she
meets Drake's best mate Danny (Jack Bell), who seems to be the polar
opposite of Drake, a sympathetic young man who just seems to be gentle
with every fiber of his body. And he's clearly attracted to her, and she
to him, so much so that they decide to run away together, even though he
has got no money and she has no access to her (well-filled) account.
Michelle tells her mother about her situation, but grossly misjudging the
situation, she suggests to her daughter to stay with her husband at
whatever cost, and even informs Drake about his wife's plans - to set off
a dangerous downward spiral ...
A very compelling drama that finds a way to tell its tragic
story in a rather subtle way, with some sentimental, even romantic scenes
thrown in - only to make the finale all the more tragic. And a directorial
effort strong on mood and a strong if small ensemble cast really help to
bring this movie to life.
