Vampire Victoria (Silvia Bruno)
has become so notorious in Europe that it has become increasingly
difficult to stay in hiding and just do her thing. So she books a passage
to New York, but aboard the vessel she can't help but have a taste from
the captain's blood - which derails the ship on her course quite a bit. So
on to South America it is for her, where she takes up residence in a
dilapitated hacienda in the middle of nowhere, trying to quench her thirst
on a healthy diet of horse blood. And then someone arriveswho reminds her
of herself, a card shark (Marcelo Fabani), whose cheating ways have been
found out so he had to skip town to start afresh somewhere new. She knows
that feeling for sure, but there's also her thirst to consider ...
It's quite obvious that this film was inspired by the original
Nosferatu, and not just for
it being a black-and-white silent with a vampire with pointed front teeth
instead of fangs, it also is close in atmosphere to the original, and
director Marcelo Fabani shows quite some talent in recreating his
inspiration's morbid atmosphere - and on a presumably tight budget -
rather than go for tried and true scare tactics. so if you're at all into
the style of silent horrors from a century ago, this one's definitely
worth a watch.
