Jesse (Jesse Inocalla) is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend Juliette
(Tristan Risk) - but without evidence he can only be held for 36 hours,
after which he rents himself a stretch limo and drives around town picking
up their mutual friends one by one, trying to get closer to the truth that
will exonerate him. Unfortunately, the "truth" might not exactly
what he likes, as it's a maze of drugs and sex, and his role in what
happened might have been bigger than he might have liked ... Ok,
I'll freely admit it is rather impossible to make perfect (rational) sense
of Valley of the Rats, as it's rather labyrinthine in its
narration, tends to only hint at major plot elements, and at times
intentionally loses itself in rather lyrical sequences. But that said, Valley
of the Rats is anything but a bad movie, it's a rather triplike
excursion into the erotic thriller genre, along the lines of 1970s
Eurohorror (which quite often took a more erotic approach than
contemporary American genre fare ever dared to) with an emphasis on giallo
tropes (a subgenre that used to have strong erotic undercurrents),
resulting in a delirious but fascinating, beautifully filmed and edited
home, that even if you might not have gotten the actual story, will remain
on your mind for quite some time ... And if this has gotten you
at all interested, you might want to get yourself a copy from https://www.shiversentertainment.com/
