Mr. Mouse (Tyhr Trubiak) has been a drifter for way too long, but now
is heading home - when at a motel he stops at he's assaulted by a group of
masked men ... and weirdly enough, that assault makes him pretty much fall
into another reality, and plenty more after that, in all of which he's on
the run from masked man, changing in number every now and again, but
mainly it's always the Clown (Dr. Rage), the Devil (Darren Johnston) and
Slashmouth (Paul McWhinney) - and it's not quite clear to Mouse who they
are or what they want of him, other than either torment or kill him or
both even, and whoever he turns to for help seems to be in league with
them. Of course, Mouse is not a man without resources, and he's willing to
fight to the last - but is that even remotely enough? Tempus
Tormentum is it's very own creature for sure: On the surface, it's a
very tense piece of survival horror, but the longer it goes, the more the
audience gets sucked into the weird world of the movie where the line
between reality and nightmare becomes fuzzier and fuzzier, where logic and
reason don't necessarily prevail, and where the audience is thus kept on
the edge of their seats, guessing. And thanks to a suitably gritty
directorial effort that manages to stay away from pure sensationalism, and
a great central performance by Tyhr Trubiak, this concept comes to life at
full impact.
