After an earthquake has laid ruins to Los Angeles, a turf war has broken out
between different surfing gangs - & the worst but also most powerful of
them are the evil Surf Nazis, who pretty much try to mix Nazi- &
surf-ideology.
But when they shoot Afro AMerican Leroy (Robert Harden), they have taken a
bigger bite than they can chew on - as Leroy's mama Eleanor Washington (Gail
Neely), a resolute elderly lady fresh out of retirement home, does not let the
loss of her son go unpunished.
Soon some of the Nazis end up beaten up & their surfboards burned,
without them ever knowing what hit them. & Eleanor is not likely to shift
back a gear either, as in the end she attacks the Nazis sleeping quarters with
blazing guns.
In the finale it's Eleanor against Adolf (Barry Brenner), Führer of the
Surf Nazis, & his girlfriend (Dawn Wildsmith), first in a shootout on a
scrapyard, & finally in a duel surfboard versus speedboat, out on the water
... which to little surpris Eleanor wins.
Bobbie Bresee is the mum of one of the Nazis.
Despite the promising title & even an interesting plot outline, this
film differs surprisingly little from any other trash-gang-movie, & is
actually disappointingly devoid of any original ideas. It's as if the makers of
the film were way to preoccupied with following genre conventions to even begin
to realize the possible potential of their basic concept.
The humour of this moview also falls considerably flat, making the Frankie
& Annette-pictures funny in comparison.
