The new Saki (Yoko Minamino) is sent to a new school as a transfer
student, and finds the place under the iron rule of Reiko Hirori and her
Red Dragon Kung Fu Club, who have pretty much bullied the whole school,
beginning with school sports, under their iron rule using their superior
martial arts. When they first meet Saki, they give her a sound beating,
then force her to do 200 push ups, and ultimately leave her lying on the
floor totally exhausted as they've made their point. But Saki is picked up
by Yuri, president of the basketball club, whose brother has been crippled
for life by the Red Dragons and who now wants revenge - revenge she can't
dish out on her own. So she figures if she brings Saki together with the
school's resident super martial artist Yukino (Akie Yoshizawa), they'll
form an alliance to take out the Red Dragon Club - but unfortunately,
things just don't work that way as Yukino has no interest into saving her
school, seeing that nobody else has had the courage to stand up to the
club. But then Yuri is beaten to death by the Red Dragon Club, and Yukino
teams up with Saki after all, and between Saki and her battle yo-yo and
Yukino's martial arts, the Red Dragon Club is quickly defeated, as is
Reiko in a one-on-one with Saki. But Reiko gets away, and with her
mysterious superior, she already plots revenge ... Ok, much of
this episode is pure camp, from the plot to the villains to the fight
scenes, and speaking of the action, it's not very well staged. But at the
same time, this one's actually great fun for all these reasons, as it
serves its camp without batting an eye and without any irony, while at the
same time remaining comparable light-hearted about things. Basically, it
really makes you want to watch more of the series.
