The Stray Cats, an all-female juvenile delinquent gang led by Mako (Meiko Kaji)
are closely linked to the Eagles, a gang of thugs led by the businessman-like
Baron (Tatsuya Fuji). But then one of the Eagles, Susumu (Jiro Okazaki) started
complaining when his girl Mari leaves him for what he calls a halfbreed, and soon the
Eagles start beating up everybody who isn't 100 % Japanese. When
Kazuma (Rikiya Yasuoka), a drifter Mako has fallen for, takes the side of the
halfbreeds (since he is not exactly purebred himself), Mako begins to doubt
where her allegiances lie. But when Baron, who is secretly in love with Mako,
finds out that Kazuma is behind Mako's doubts in his methods, he has him
brutally beaten up. Kazuma however is not one do budge that easily, and he
has the nerve to ask Baron for a favour - to help him find Megumi, his sister
of whom he knows nothing but her name and age. Baron even seems to agree
to this, seemingly to do Mako a favour, and he even invites Mako and the
Stray Cats to a party, but in reality, his plans are far more sinister, as he
wants to get back on Mako after she favoured Kazuma over him ... After he has
lured Mako away from the party, he has the other Stray Cats gangraped, with
them of course blaming Mako, the only one not present at the event, for having
sold them out. Upon learning this, Mako gets back at the participants of the
gangrape with some Molotov cocktails, but is effectively expelled from her
gang. She manages however to find Megumi (Yuki Arikawa), Kazuma's sister, for him
and tries to reunite them - at first with little success. However, soon afterwards
Kazuma is the prey in a manhunt of the Eagles - who want to get back at Mako
for the Molotov cocktails -, and he soon gets brutally beaten up again, and when soon afterwards Megumi tries to persuade the Eagles to let her brother off
easily, she is brutally gangraped. When Kazuma finds her in this state, He
knows he has to avenge her - and Mako agrees to help him even ... even though
they both know the chances for getting out of this alive are slim at best Third in the 5-part Stray
Cat Rock series, a series that, despite having the same lead actresses
throughout, is not linked in any way narratively (which is not a rarity in
Japanese movie series). This one was shot back to back with the second in the
series, Naraneko Rokku: Wairudu Jumbo/Stray Cat Rock: Wild Jumbo. As
a movie, Stray Cat Rock: Sex Hunter tries to be at the same time hip and
stylish, and socially engaging, however the good intentions sometimes
fall short of the style-requirements - but while that doesn't make it the best
of thesis movies, it's a great piece of action/girl gang cinema that runs on
action and violence almost non-stop, carried by cool attitudes, and even though
characters and story are a bit clichéed at times, they fit the movie as a whole
rather perfectly, and the whole thing looks just really great.
