Lorraine (Donna Moschek) is grossly agoraphobic, which means she won't
leave her apartment for anything, anything at all. Thus she has to call
friends for favour after favour just to get simple things fixed and she's
not only limited to her place but also not all that practical a person ...
but then she finds out her apartment might actually be haunted: More and
more she thinks she sees ghosts - and she not only sees them, she sees
them doing terrible things (including the brutal dismemberment of a guy),
and while at first they just seem to be there, they eventually come after
Lorraine as well - and it seems the only way out of this is getting out of
the apartment, which Lorraine has some difficulties with ... Now
there's one thing that Solus is definitely not, and that's a high
octane slasher with a shock every half minute or so, and lots of running,
chasing, and hand-held camera action - as a matter of fact, Solus
is a very slowburn movie that self-consciously takes its time to develop
its creepiness and gets things across in long takes that are actually much
eerier than any sudden shock could be. And Donna Moschek does a quite
simply great job to bring her character across by keeping things subtle.
Sure, in essence the film doesn't have much of an actual story - but what
little there is will probably stay with you and revisit you in your
nightmares!
