Telephone help center counsellor Rinko (Asuka Kurosawa) receives an
envelope containing compromising photos of herself as well as a
cellphone one day, & soon after that is called on that phone by
Iguchi (Shinya Tsukamoto), one of her clients she kept from committing
suicide, who forces her to some perverse games in exchange for the
photos, to - as he puts it - fullfill her own desires. These games
consist of her changing her look from stuffy wageslave into
miniskirtwearing vamp, takiong her panties off & walking around in
public with a vibrator between her legs, to be remote controlled by
Iguchi. After she complied she gets the negatives back & all seems
over - until Iguchi finds the one negative he has forgotten to return,
& finds the first signs of breastcancer showing on it - he himself being
in the last phases of the disease anyways. For her to get the photo back
he thus forces her to go to the doctor (he is not evil after
all). The doctor confirms Iguchi's suspicions, but might still be able
to stop the cancer when removing her breast. When Rinko tells this to
her estranged husband Shigehiko (Yuji Kohtari), though, he grows mad
& won't hear about it. So Rinko decides to get back at him &
employs Iguchi to her own ends (without him knowing of couse), first
having him abduct Shigehiku & showing him a perverse show of
violence to intimid him, then - after setting him free again - sending
him provocative photos of Rinko, making him follow her in secret. &
so Shigohiko sees her dressing up as a vamp again, with miniskirt &
all, then starting the vibrator she again has between her legs in the
open & undressing while masturbating, with Iguchi photographing her,
& realizing she hasn't had her breast removed. Upon realizing that,
Iguchi takes his anger out on Shigehiko, who after all is responsible
for Rinko not having had that important operation, & abducts &
even almost kills him in one of the very same shows he made him see
earlier. Only after Shigehiko going through hell can he & Rinko
reconcile & he accept her without one breast ... A blend
of art movie, social statement - after all, this is about an estranged
couple of the professional middle class - &, let's face it,
schoolboy fantasy, which does actually work as an entertaining movie
since these 3 factors are carefully balanced out & the movie never
becomes too brainheavy, too sleazy or too caught up in its own pictures,
instead does stay focussed on the story, that still manages to have a
few pleasant twists & turns.
