All for college age friends from different walks of life (Dayo Okeniyi,
Shawn Thomas, Tyler Rice, Jeremy Isabella) wanted was to cross the border
to Canada to celebrate the birthday of one of them in a strip club they've
learned about ... but then they have a minor car accident in backwoods
USA, and while the officer (Matt Hish) who's on site with amazing
quickness seems to be nice and polite enough, he secretly sabotages their
car, and the towing company he calls is actually a group of hunters who
like to rape collegeboys and like to go on manhunts. Somehow our heroes
manage to escape but get separated ... and suddenly, they are faced with
an even bigger threat - a tribe of vikings who has apparently lived cut
off from the rest of the world for centuries, but who now kill each and
everyone coming to near to them - only one of our heroes, Bro (Dayo
Okeniyi), for some reason gathers their respect, which has to do with an
ancient prophecy, but rather than waiting to find out what this prophecy
is, Bro makes an escape at the first possible moment. To ward off the
vikings it seems our gang has to join forces with the hunters ... but
they're not exactly playing fair, either ... Slew Hampshire
is pretty much a genre movie that's really got it's horror aspects bare to
the bones ... and that's a good thing: On closer inspection, the story
about the lost tribe of vikings might not make much sense, and fortunately
the film doesn't try to offer endless explanations for it, instead it
pretty much goes straight to the jugular, invariably favours suspense,
action and gore over a long-winded narration, and thus remains tense and
in the best sense of the word entertaining throughout, also helped by
rather intense camerawork, a directorial effort that never forgets to
create the proper atmosphere, and a very decent cast. Definitely worth a
look!
