She shouldn't have but she's just a teen with all the natural urges
...and thus Amanda (Allie Sparks) is making out with her boyfriend Adam
(Michael Frascino) at a local variation of lovers' lane, after which they
fall asleep, and when they wake up, it's already the next day and the car
won't start. Now that's already worry enough for Amanda as she neeeeeds to
get home before someone finds out she's not home, but problems really
start when she and Adam have to find out that a psycho killer (John Kyle)
is roaming the premises, who takes out their friends (Chris Shepardson,
Paola Duque) who have come to fetch them, is happily demolishing their car
just to show what he's capable of, and the only reason he doesn't break
into the car seems to be that he likes to play cat-and-mouse. Eventually
he even gets his hands on Adam and kills him in cold blood. Amanda though
he keeps, seemingly to play with. She tries everything to make an escape -
but for some reason always ends up where she run from, in the car ... Scathing
is one of these movies where you invariably think you're ahead of the
story and know what happens next ... and then it manages to utterly
surprise you. But that's not the only thing to like about this movie, it's
just a really good and really tense thriller brought to life not only by
its great story but also a subtle directorial effort and very solid
performances. Definitely worth a watch!
