The time's 2020, during the Coronavirus lockdown: Jimmy (Justin
Thibault), who has always had problems finding friends due to his not
exactly winning personality, feels the effects of the lockdown twice as
hard as most as now even when he goes out he meets hardly a soul. So when
one day in the park a ball rolls his way, he draws a face onto it and
makes it his friend - and for a time he feels like the happiest man on
earth ... until he accidently kicks the ball out of reach. On his way
home, Jimmy "meets" a rock, and the rock actually talks to him.
Problem is, the rock's not overly nice ... A rather touching
tragicomedy that's clearly the product of its time in more ways than one:
Not only was it filmed during lockdown following all relevant rules, it
also mirrors the general atmosphere of the time, the weird sense of
aloneness even in public and sudden alienation towards anything human. And
a moody directorial effort and a very grounded central performance really
bring this to life and make this a worthy watch of the times we're going
through ...
