Cole (Brock Roberts) isn't really a criminal - in fact he*s a veteran who has served his country
on several tours -, but of late, times have been tough; His wife (Lulie
Layton) suffers from terminal cancer, and her medical bills are crippling,
he has his son and daughter (Landen Roberts, Cali Young)
to take care of, and his father (Bill Moseley) isn*t the youngest anymore,
either. And on top of that, Cole is unemployed, and not many businesses
are hiring these days. So when his best friend Tom (Skully Shemwell) comes
up with the proposition to rob the brothers Skye's (Shane Schultz, Andy
Byrd) pawnshop, Cole initially turns him down. But when he learns that the
pawnshop's just a cover-up for a methlab and the world would be a better
place without it, he reluctantly agrees. However, when Cole, Tom and
company (Scott Michael Dunn, Joe Hammerstone, Zak Larmer) raid the place,
they run into Trevor (Eric Wolfgang Nelson) and gang, who sell the stuff
produced in the store, and they're somehow cornered in the underground
bunker beneath the store, where Doc (John Bratkowski), son of notorious
Nazi Doctor Mengele) experiments with a new strain of meth that turns
users into cannibals - to him a solution for the world's meth problem. And
down in that bunker, our antiheroes stumble across those meth users Doc
has experimented on ... Horror regular Jackie Kelly plays one of the
good doctor's experiments who has reverted into her non-cannibalistic
state though.
Now sure, in writing this film might sound like your run-of-the-millzombie
movie (even if the creatures in this one aren't zombies by definition),
but that said, the film is also tons of fun, there's plenty of action, be
it zombie attacks or shoot-outs, it's dynamically directed, it features
some colourful and fun characters that don't necessarily are easuky
divided into good and evil, and the cast is solid with John Bratoswki
making a great villain. So if zombie horrors are your thing, you'll very
probably be well-entertained by this one.
