For some reason, the Red Dwarfers pick up a frozen in body (Nicky
Leatherbarrow) on an ice planet, which, once thawed up, turns out to be a
zombie controlled by an intelligent virus (voice: Gary Martin). & the
zombie soon attacks Lister (Craig Charles) & transfers the virus to
him before collapsing. Now Lister is infected too & on the brink of
death, but since it's an intelligent virus, everyone tries to reason with
it ... well, after cutting off Lister's arm didn't help.
The virus however always seems to be one step ahead, he even gives
Lister new hope when he wants to blow himself and the virus to Kingdom
Come.
But the only thing that really helps is when Kochanski (Chloe Annett)
kills Lister. & after the virus, in a desperate attempt to escape
Kochanski's body, has dying Lister bite Kochanski's arm to be transferred
into her body, she chops off her own arm ... only it wasn't hers at all,
the virus is gone for good, & Lister can be reanimated.
Some funny ideas & even an interesting storyline just don't make up
for dull & uninspired storytelling. It could have been more ...
