Taylor (Richard Poche) is certainly not the perfect preacher, some
might even call his stealing from the collection plate and burying the
money behind the church criminal or worse, but his parish seems to like
him well enough, and the church organist Emily (Mary Newman) has even
fallen in love with him - but as lovely as she might look and act, Taylor
resists temptation. But he's certainly not above seduction, as Brenda
(Erika Smith), the smoldering hot and sexually aggressive wife of his twin
brother Roy (also Richard Poche) doesn't have much of a problem getting
him to screw her. And once they start screwing, they pretty much keep at
it. But that's not enough for Brenda, she wants to move away to somewhere
nice, and while he's all for it, he refuses to use the money he stole from
the church collections for it, as his moral compass is at least somehow
still intact. Then though his brother has found out about everything and
comes to kill him, and Taylor shoots Roy dead in self defense, then hides
the body. Now he wants for him and Brenda to play some kind of charade to
shroud Roy's disappearance in mystery, but she just wants to leave with
the money - with or without Taylor ... Cab driver Alan (Cliff Poche) is
Emily's boyfriend who much to her dismay still cares for his ex wife
Olivia (Nikki Hoy) and their son together, so much so that when she tells
him she's about to get evicted from her home, he promises to come up with
the $5,000 she needs despite having hardly a dime to his name. So he
cruises the night looking for opportunities ... and somehow hears of
Taylor's collection money buried behind the church - but he also runs
across Brenda, who's bound to show little sympathy for his in essence
honourable cause ... Now I wouldn't call RainFalls a
technically perfect movie, as it was apparently shot on a low budget which
at times shows - but at the same time, it's a very well-written noir-ish
thriller with more femmes fatales than one can shake a stick at, some
pretty good dialogue that despite feeling at times a little stilted always
comes across as poignant, while the characters all feel fleshed out and
real, and are portrayed by a very able ensemble. And the final twist is
certainly worth the price of admission alone. So if low budget genre
entertainment's your thing you'll find yourself enjoying this movie. ...
