After years away from his family, Hunter (Brian Raetz) returns to his
parents' (Carol Ludwick, Derek Reynolds) farm with a bunch of his big city
friends (Lindsey Nicole, Ryan Moore, Celina Beach, Nicole Dambro, Keith
Webb, Sheila Leason, Vibhu Raghave), and his biggest fear is that dad
won't accept him being openly gay ... and it's tough indeed. In the
meantime, his friends organize a barn dance (after all, they're on a farm)
where it seems everybody's cheating on everybody with everybody and thus
they all fall out with one another, and then it all ends in a catfight.
But while they all have their (questionable) fun, Hunter's parents are
murdered by Pitchfork, a man wearing an animal skin over his face and
who's got a pitchfork attached to his arm stump where his hand ought to
be, and his little sister Jenny (Addisyn Wallace) is kidnapped. And then
Pitchfork goes after Hunter's friends, one by one, and bloodily so, and
also after Hunter himself when he tries to save Jenny. Of course, Hunter
has more than a little fight in himself and he can stand his ground - the
question is just, how long? Now to be quite honest, Pitchfork
adds nothing essentially new to the slasher genre - but it does rather
great as a slasher film, it's killer's looks alone are properly creepy and
macabre, the scares are all in the right places, once the film has tensed
up it never lets go, there are extremely creative nasty killings with
plenty of gore, and the location really rocks. And that the actors are all
rather likeable in thgeir own ways definitely doesn't hurt one bit either. So
definitely very enjoyable genre entertainment!!!
